Wrapping up 4 weeks of work in the community of Angus Glen. In this time, I’ve installed 15 solid core, shaker doors, casing and baseboard/shoe mould throughout the main and second floors. Stair guys have come and gone. Painters have come and gone but will be back at a later date. I’ll just keep plugging away.

Nice to have closure on a project that was initiated a while back although put on hold as renovations were being fulfilled in other areas of their home. Another week on the books. Deconstructed the stairs in preparation for a full staircase renovation. Scraped stucco off the ceiling in prep for a future project. Removed (yikes) almost 2” of tile, thinset and wire lathe around the affected area in preparation for a coffered wall. What were they thinking? Always surprising (but not really) what previous renovations expose. Remember, when you’re pricing out a reno, not all contractors can be treated as equal. I educate my clients… don’t always go for lowest cost but who you feel is providing the best value. If you’re looking for a high end result, be prepared to spend more. If you’re ok with “ok”, then you’ll be fine spending less. Find the best fit for your needs. Also while considering fit, when working with a contractor, you’re building a relationship. So as much as you’re selecting a contractor, the contractor is selecting you. Be as open and honest in the relationship and hopefully the contractor you’re working with will reciprocate. That’s how I do business anyway.

Productive week despite the constant threats of rain. Flooring along with the hemlock siding is in. Fresh tail lights, side markers and jack installed. Also polished the nose trim and side vents hitting them with 3 coats of clear. The interior build is well underway. Framed and roughed in the electrical for the prep area. More updates coming.

Horse Trailer Conversion - deconstruction continues.
As typical with most trailers of this vintage, rust is prominant. Spent the past few days cutting out rusty panels. To date, most of the problematic areas have been cut and are ready for patching. Did a preliminary clean of the frame in preparation for corrosion treatment and rust paint. During inclimate weather days, I’ve been a keener researching electrical systems for this conversion.
